Two teams from Child Rights International, Ghana, visited 22 safe havens and camps in the North and Central Tongu, Ada, and Shai-Osudoku Districts on Saturday and Sunday, the 4th and 5th of November, 2023,
The purpose of the visit was to distribute free sanitary pads to adolescent girls living in these safe havens.
The distribution of these items was based on prior engagements with the girls during focus group discussions where they highlighted their difficulty in assessing these personal hygiene materials and the effect it was having on their day-to-day life and stay in the haven.
Over 500 girls were reached during the exercise. We believe that this gesture goes a long way to improve the quality of life for girls in these havens.
At Tokpo, the team also donated three detachable white formica boards to facilitate teaching and learning in the safe haven.
We want to extend our gratitude to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Ghana Education Service, and Ghana Health Service officials in these districts for assisting the team with the distribution.
