SEKYERE ABOABOSO BASIC SCHOOL ORGANISES BREAST CANCER AWARENESS FORUM

The Child Rights and Reading club of Sekyere Aboaboso Basic School has organised a Breast Cancer Awareness forum on their school premises.

The programme, held on 19th October, 2022, was in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and nurses from the Sekyere Aboaboso CHPS. The forum was held as part of activities to mark the Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October). The programme was conducted to create awareness regarding breast cancer among the pupils.

Resource persons Madam Dorcas Appiah and Madam Gladys Abah from the Aboaboso CHPS covered areas such as risk factors, symptoms, prevention strategies, screening and early detection of breast cancer for early treatment. They took about 68 female pupils through the practical examination of the breast to determine any abnormalities.

The participating pupils appreciated the Child Rights and Reading club for organizing such a programme for their welfare.

Mr. Samuel Adjei, CRI Community Development Officer for Wassa East District commended the pupils and encouraged them to organise such programmes that will benefit themselves and their community at large.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is marked in various countries across the world, and helps to draw attention and create awareness for early diagnosis, and treatment as well as palliative care for women facing this disease.
